Quantitative Research Analyst/ Program Analyst Homeland Security - Remote



SUMMARY:


The Concourse Group is looking for a skilled analyst with the ability to work in a small team environment to solve problems with various client data sets. This position is primarily remote but may require infrequent visits to client locations throughout the National Capital Region. This position requires strong skills in designing, developing, and maintaining very large data models. The candidate will join our highly skilled team to assist with R-coding-based data management and analysis. Attention to detail, strong written communication skills, and Power BI expertise are vital to success in this position.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Ability to assemble, communicate and present information clearly

  • Proficiency in manipulating data sets using R coding and drawing insights from large data to validate and explain trends and influence decisions

  • Requires the ability to understand customer problems, quickly learn new tools and technologies, and work both independently and as part of a team of developers and functional experts to rapidly deliver customer solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to use advanced formulas in excel to build extensive multi-sheet data models to solve complex questions for the client

  • Demonstrated ability to use excel functions such as pivot tables, graphs, vlookups, index match, sumifs, countifs, etc.

  • Willingness to take responsibility for analyzing data from a designated number of sources, ensuring any variances are identified, investigated, and corrected

  • Possess a strong combination of analytical skills, critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and reporting acumen

  • Ability to interpret client requests and then enthusiastically and creatively construct and produce data-driven ad hoc reports utilizing Power BI

  • Ability to augment the client POC’s capability and address a number of complex, complicated data dynamics that they are navigating

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of data mining & big data techniques to manage large data sets with accuracy

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for maintaining client and consultant relationships

  • Ability to solve problems using a detailed and well-ordered approach

  • Can work without direct supervision and independently with broad guidelines

  • Must be attentive to detail, maintain standards, and actively check for data accuracy before conveying the final work product

  • Ability to assemble, correlate and analyze facts, creatively conceptualize and implement customized solutions to problems, and prepare concise summaries


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor's degree with data, economics, business, or other quantitative focus


2. Experience with data modeling and analysis, or quantitative research


3. Able to work closely in a small team


4. Strong data modeling/analysis experience


5. Strong to advanced R coding skills


6. Power BI expertise


7. HIGH attention to detail and ability to check own work for accuracy


8. Able to work in a fast-paced environment, delivering data-led stories, through significant data manipulation and analysis


9. Strong communication skills both written and verbal to deliver messages effectively


10. Ability to efficiently multitask and deliver on client requests in a timely fashion


11. Self-directed with the ability to thrive in an unstructured environment, comfortable with ambiguity


12. Detail oriented, yet able to move forward efficiently in the face of unanswered questions

Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
